Workplace yoga helps teams share experience and build bonds, supporting mental wellbeing. The physical postures of yoga can help to reduce physical pain, workplace stress and decrease absenteeism. Join me for an introduction to the ancient, holistic practice of Ayurveda, where you’ll explore the foundations of conscious living, the five elements (the Pancha Mahabhutas - fire, air, space, earth and water) and the three mind-body doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Through engaging 'dosha' quizzes, discover your unique constitution and gain insights into the qualities and characteristics that shape your personality. Learn about your current state of health and learn to recognise when you are in balance or imbalanced. We use this information as a base from which to create good health. We'll delve into key concepts such as the roots of Ayurveda, Sankhya philosophy, the Mahagunas, Gunas, Ayurvedic physiology, and the Dhatus. You will be taught how to strengthen the body's inner pharmacy using sensory practices to balance each of the doshas. Ayurveda places great importance on our sensory functioning because everything we take in via the senses (sound, touch, sight, taste and smell) is metabolised into the chemistry and electricity of our body/mind. The sense organs (ears, skin, eyes, tongue and nose) are the gateways through which the outer environment enters into our inner environment. The quality of our sensory impressions and health of our gateways therefore determines the quality of our physical and mental health. By nourishing ourselves with healing sensory impressions, we can cultivate a quieter, calmer mind and a stable intellect. This allows us to make choices that expand our health and wellbeing.
